How Will Poll Bound Parties Be Impacted By The Restrictions Imposed?

The election commission of India announced dates for five state assembly elections kickstarting from 10 February, with the results on 10 March. However, there will be restrictions on rallies and campaigns till 15 January with the uptick in COVID numbers. The political parties will have to virtually connect with the state’s voters, convincing and persuading them to vote their party to power.

However, the opposition would have to literally try its hands hard as for a limited pool of infrastructure and crunch of resources vastly impacting and influencing its strength and strategy reaching out to the remote sections of the population lacking access and awareness of technology as for the ruling party playing it finely and perfectly to its advantage by keeping the anonymity of electoral bonds intact.

Secondly, linking Aadhaar card with voter id will give a clear sense to the practitioners of political power to manipulate and manufacture public opinions and views on concerns, thoroughly impacting and influencing their decision-making capacity as for checking duplicity of votes, which isn’t the case so far as this proposal to wipe out the electoral mismanagement is largely concerned.

It is time for the election commission to intervene either by relaxing the prohibition on virtual canvassing or offering them grants in aids to sustain, safeguard, and survive their tough and tight electoral races to the finish line. It would be interesting to note the response and reaction of the EC than the anxiety and fury over amendments.
