The Bharatiya Janata Party’s stoic silence on a raid at perfume baron Piyush Jain’s residence in Kanpur has been discomforting, considering the party’s prospects in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav led the accusation as the party was on defense, clueless in its reaction. This reminded the electorate of the atrocities that happened in the previous Samajwadi Party regime.
The BJP has buried itself deep from speaking anything against Piyush Jain. Meanwhile, it is busy with its connivance with corporates and industrialists who are aiding and sponsoring the party’s advertorials and mega rallies and meetings to draw attention from around the corner.
But with Akhilesh Yadav composing his act, it is the BJP that appears to be on the backfoot as Akhilesh makes the last-mile connectivity to creatively engage with the electorate over its crisis.
