How One Can Maintain Positivity Amid The Unending Pandemic

Many of you might be thinking that it’s not possible to think positive all the time. But how do we remain positive amidst the endless pandemic? Is this never going to end? Is the upcoming year 2022 going to be yet another nightmare?

That’s where positivity comes in, the hope, the resilience. I know we all are so tired of this little game that Covid presents to all of us almost every month. We’re definitely tired and our patience levels are getting to zero now. We want our pre-Covid normal lives back where we could go out and meet anyone without being cautious and live our lives spontaneously.

Now, we have to think twice before we venture out and cannot make plans in advance. I know I am passing on a whole lot of negative vibes but yes, these are everyday thoughts that we all experience.

Positive thinking, or an optimistic attitude, is the practice of focusing on the good in any given situation. It simply means you approach the good and the bad in life with the expectation that things will go well. This is a definition given by our dearly Google chacha about positivity and I completely agree. Don’t you think, too?

At times, we forget the fact that we are to focus on the present, the beauty of now, on what we currently have that we can afford but some others don’t. Everyone is suffering or is unhappy in some way and striving towards happiness. The least we can do is be kind to others, and share happiness and laughter with them.

Optimism is an attitude that becomes a habit once followed regularly. A continuous effort has to be made to practice this and deviate your negative thoughts to positive ones. As you know, our body and mind are linked. There are more pros than cons to engaging in optimistic thoughts.

The first point that would be most apt is it helps increase your immune system.

In one study, researchers found that activation in brain areas associated with negative emotions led to a weaker immune response to a flu vaccine. Researchers Segerstrom and Sephton found that people who were optimistic about a specific and important part of their lives, such as how well they were doing in school, exhibited a stronger immune response than those who had a more negative view of the situation.

Everyone is unhappy in some way and striving towards happiness. The least we can do is be kind to others, and share happiness and laughter with them.

Naturally, optimism helps in relieving stress and improving wellness. One becomes less susceptible to colds and cardiovascular diseases. You must have also heard about the law of attraction: “[It] is a philosophy that claims one’s thoughts determine their reality. An individual attracts what they think.”

This means that if you think negatively, you attract more negativity in you, whereas if you think positively, then you attract more positive thoughts. It all makes a huge difference, one change in your thought can make you feel so much better. Of course, it’s difficult to sustain this attitude but one can always strive towards it.

Last but not the least,

“Our attitude towards life determines life’s attitude towards us.” — John Mitchell

This quote sums it all in a clear manner. Life can give you a lot of unhappiness but it’s about how you perceive it and change the way it is presented to you!
