Sip On Some Kashmiri Kehwa In Gulmarg’s One-Of-A-Kind Igloo Cafe

Igloo Cafe in Gulmarg, Kashmir

The opening of the world’s biggest igloo restaurant in Kashmir’s Gulmarg, is leading to the famous tourist destination attracting even more tourists now. The interiors of the “Igloo Cafe” have also attracted a number of tourists, as it reflects the culture of Kashmir.

Ever heard of an igloo? Of course, you have! It is defined as a dome-shaped house built from snow. Igloos tend to be constructed in icy countries like Canada and Greenland. But, finally, a record-breaking igloo has been constructed in Gulmarg, known for heavy snowfall.

Apparently, the Igloo Cafe in question is bigger than the one recorded in Guinness World Records as the biggest one! It has 10 tables and up to 40 people can eat at once.

A worker named Jahangir Ahmed said that, “We made this igloo in two and a half months. Everything, even the chairs and tables are made up of snow here. I and the other workers worked really hard to make this happen.” Ahmed was one of around 20 workers who came together to build the place.

Sip On Warm Tea In A Glacial Place

Who wouldn’t want to experience dining in an igloo? No one would want to miss out on such an opportunity. That’s why this restaurant has become the centre of attraction for everyone. Tourists as well as locals enjoy having meals and hot cups of kehwa (Kashmiri tea) in this glacial place.

Some tourists said that they didn’t expect the igloo to look beautiful from the inside, but the restaurant beat their expectations. One of them said that, “The carvings on the walls, as well as the tables and chairs, have been constructed beautifully. It’s amazing, really! Whoever comes to Gulmarg should visit this magnificent igloo at least once.”

Another tourist said that, “I am experiencing this igloo for the first time and it is really nice. I like that they are serving kehwa here and everything is made of snow.”

Who came up with the idea for the eatery? The owner and mastermind of the Igloo Cafe is Syed Wasim Shah. Shah saw a similar one in Switzerland and decided to come up with something similar back home.
