It’s 2003, and the rain was in no mood to stop blistering. I was walking down the road struggling to find a rickshaw when I suddenly spotted something strange in this quirky tale of unexpected encounters.
I reached Pratap Pura, Baluganj, on my way to my alma mater- St. George’s College. But unfortunately, the heavy downpour made my convenience seem almost impossible. Hence, I started walking amidst the rain to cover some 10 kilometres to reach my school- when suddenly I was stopped by a Hyundai i10. A man in his mid-40s with his two sons approached me, one of them was my senior in the 8th standard, and the other was in his 3rd grade.
While I generally do not take lifts from people, I instinctively did for a surprise this time. I sat down without thinking much as I received a good vibe from the man who offered me the lift. He then gently dropped us at the school’s gate while it was still raining, making it even impossible to stand correctly.
To be precise, writing this unexpected encounter, this memory is still inside me and will last forever.
