How Writing Articles Helped Me Get Through Tough Times

It was November 2020 when I first published my article on Legal Service India. A few days before, I argued with a close friend of mine. We’ve known each other for almost two years, but we argued over an idiotic thing that I brought up. The worst part was that the day the argument took place, we were drawing buildings in the day.

So I was regretting for a few days about the argument. Suddenly I saw my friend’s article published on Legal Service India. It set me off that day, so I submitted one of mine. The article was about live-in relationships in various countries. I had written that research paper for my project back in May 2020.

The whole project took me about one and a half months to complete. It was the first project that I’ve genuinely made because I didn’t copy-paste it like the others before it. Though I got good marks, I felt like the project was useless.

Back then, I didn’t even think about publishing it. The argument with my friend made me submit the Live-In Relationship article. And wouldn’t you know it? It got published a few days later.

I wrote couple more articles on Legal Service India before I found Youth Ki Awaaz. My first article published on the site was about the online harassment people from the LGBTQIA+ community go through on the internet.

A few days later, I’ve published my articles on Freedom of Speech, media trials, outrage culture, anime, etc. To think that I’ve was publishing those articles within a month not only gave me a chance to get over the argument but also allowed me to express myself online.

YKA helped me in two categories:

1. To express myself through my writings.

2. To write better.

YKA allowed me to not only write about the topics I wanted, but also gave me a chance to improve my CV. Through YKA, I have published my writings on The Live Wire, The Times of India, OpIndia, and even the Los Angeles Times. At the same time, I have published various legal research papers and even two books.

I may have written articles on other sites, but YKA served as the main base.

I know this is my second year as a YKA member. I also know many members have been writing articles since the organization’s inception. At the same time, I also know that my college will end in a few months (Not to mention, I’ve recently joined online coaching, which will leave a little time for me to write). I don’t know if I’ll continue writing articles.

I can only tell you this. Before I lose my interest in writing articles entirely, I will try my best to write as many writings as I can. I will try like a mad lad to publish more articles on YKA. At the very least, I’ll be satisfied that I’ve done something in my life.
