YKA Is Hiring: Climate Action Campaigner

Youth Ki Awaaz is looking for an enthusiastic social media ninja who loves content and lives on the internet. If you are someone who is super invested in the climate action conversation, actively follows the latest climate policy trends, possess key social media content programming skills, are up for creating public conversations on different platforms and have a sharp understanding of digital campaigning for social causes – this one is for you!

You’ll be working closely with the Youth Ki Awaaz Programs team on the #ZeroSeHero campaign to build more accessible, smart, and engaging content on what a just transition looks like for India. India’s pathway to a net-zero world. a just transition needs to look at conversations with a sharp focus on running engaging social media campaigns on a range of climate issues and producing smart and engaging content.

Primary Tasks:

1. Manage day to day planning, conceptualisation, creating and posting of climate change-related content (multi-format), within YKA’s climate focus area, on Youth Ki Awaaz’s social media handles and the campaign Instagram handle .

2. Driving conversations on policy action via the campaign content and grow a public channel of engagement with policy makers across ministries and  state governments.

3. Conceptualise and lead the execution of discussions and interviews end-to-end with the objective to expand the existing conversation on climate action across different intersections.

4. Conceptualise, design and execute social media campaigns and engagements in collaboration with potential partners, high impact non-profits and climate activism groups from across the country.

5. Initiate and be responsible for outreach for potential collaborations and engagements with partner organisations, institutions etc.

6. Work with the YKA Editorial and Programs teams to create and manage distribution channels for the content coming on the YKA platform, written and submitted by the YKA community.

Skills and qualities required:

1. At least 3 years experience in social media management and working in teams, preferably at a digital-first/media/development sector organisation.

2. Proven track record of designing strategies and tactics for organic growth of campaign/projects on social media, including engaging users and deriving analysis.

3. Clear understanding of data and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Insights on Facebook and Instagram and Twitter Analytics.

4. High level of comfort in creating detailed reports with analysis.

5. Experience and expertise in creating content for social media, and understanding of content for different social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram).

6 Passion for creating social change and a mid-level expertise in climate change and India’s climate policy framework. Additionally, a keen inclination towards current affairs.

7. Experience and willingness to work with a diverse set of people with different abilities and understanding.

8. Have an organised approach to maintaining weekly, quarterly and monthly numbers to be able to deliver robust reports around campaign performance and outputs as required.

9. Set up simple yet effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms for your projects.

10. A willingness to take risks, fail, learn and adapt.

11. Excellent writing, communications, and copywriting skills, and a working knowledge of Hindi are preferable.

12. Excellent organisation, planning, coordination and multitasking skills. Ability to approach targets with a holistic perspective and the ability to adhere to deadlines.

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, market-standard
