Podcasting has never been welcomed in South Sudan and almost all sub-Saharan African countries, not because it’s not wanted but because access to the Internet is very low. However, ThaWave Podcast hosted by media personality ThaWave Entertainer has recently made news for the new program it has introduced alongside their usual music and celebrity interview practices.

The “Give her a pen, not man” initiative has made waves after being employed by the hosts in partnership with local non-governmental organisations. This program aims to educate society on the disadvantages of girl-child marriages and other bad practices associated with girls. The program has been conveyed by new episodes dedicated to it, sensitisation in schools and churches, and it has sent up to 23 girls back to school.

The “Give her a pen, not man” initiative has made waves after being employed by the hosts in partnership with local non-governmental organisations.

This work has been commended by various political leaders and non-governmental organisations, and the UNMISS was recently quoted in their press release that “Protection of girls is not only a burden on the government, but it’s a collective responsibility, and that’s exactly what ThaWave Podcast has illustrated.”

The podcast is available for reach on their website, podcasting platforms or all their social media handles.
