What Is The State Of Agriculture In Kashmir Like Nowadays?

Peer Mohammad Amir Qureshi

Agriculture is our wiset pursuit, because it’ll in the end contributemost to real wealth, good morals, and happiness. ” – Thomas Jefferson

In the early morning I was scrolling on Facebook and a videotape appeared in which women were planting paddy saplings, while watching the videotape I was absorbed by the Reminiscences when people used to do farming with zeal and zest. People used to perform husbandry with frever and this season was considered to bring blessings and prosperity. This season wasn’t only having agrarian significance but it was having artistic significance as well. It was celebrated as gleeful season as other religious and artistic carnivals are being celebrated then but Alas! Those effects had came recollections now. Although Agriculture holds consummate significance in Kashmir as it provides employment to 64 percent of Population directly or laterally. Agriculture is also known as the backbone of the Kashmir’s economy. But, from one decade the manner of performing agricultural conditioning has changed to a great extent.

Before one decade people used to perform tilling themselves people were confined to agrarian conditioning wholly and sully. Our grandparents look after the husbandry as responsibility but it now has came a formality. People now hire non original labours for agricultural conditioning from Thejkaad to planting paddy saplings. Before one decade people of Kashmir used to plant paddy saplings themselves with enthusiasm and the fields were echoed with folk song. People used to invite their kith and kins on these occasions to help each other, this thing not only amplifies love among each other but also it provides a fiscal support to each other. Every family member was entrusted with his or her work from children’s to the women.

Before the process of planting paddy children’s used to disperse the paddy saplings each over the land. Few of the women in the family would remain at home to prepare tea, lemon water and reflections for the people who used to work on the land. Shortbreaks of lemon water and melons were taken in the scintillating sun. Kashmiri Wazwaan was also served on the land. Women carried the implements in the wicker hand basket followed by many children’s who used to carry water pots and stew pots full of succulent and tasty cuisines. Although it looks like now those blessings clearly fade, our hearts are filled with covetousness, jealousy, envy double norms and abomination. We did not now uncloak the actuality of one another. Now this generation has became idle. It is our grandparents who awaken us to perform husbandry if we didn’t change our station and geste towards agricultural conditioning that time is not far when agrarian land would came barren land. We need to realize that it’s an asset for the unborn generations. I’m concluding with the quote of George Washington Bush

” Farming is the most Healthful most useful and most noble employment of Man”. – GEORGE WASHINGTON
