5 Akshaye Khanna Movies You Must Watch Before Drishyam 2

As we all know, Akshaye Khanna is a phenomenal actor and one of my favourites. I’ve crushed on him and admired him ever since I saw him as Siddharth in Dil Chahta Hai and as a prolific lawyer in his last big-screen movie, section 375, in 2019. I’ve always been a huge fan girl, and I obviously can’t contain my emotions as he’s making a comeback on the big screen with Drishyam 2 on the 18th of November. It is a sequel to the massive thriller hit Drishyam which also stars Ajay Devgan and Tabu.

Here I’ve listed my Top 5 Akshaye Khanna Movies That You Absolutely Can’t Afford To Miss:

1. Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

This will top the list when talking about Akshaye Khanna because we all saw him as Siddharth, and he had our hearts. This movie became a cult classic, and if you haven’t seen it yet, please do yourselves a favour and watch it. It’s the story of three friends and stars, Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan. It’s a story of how the lives of three inseparable friends change post-college drastically due to their different approaches towards life and relationships. It is still so ICONIC. This movie also won a national film award for the best feature film, including 7 Filmfare awards and also won him his first best-supporting actor award. You can watch this on Netflix.

2) Humraaz (2002)

Humraaz is a romantic thriller co-star Ameesha Patel and Bobby Deol. Akshaye Khanna played the main antagonist Karan Malhotra, a compelling con artist whose girlfriend decides to marry a rich guy to secure his wealth. Humraz was a huge success, and it also won him an IIFA for best actor in a negative role. You can watch this on Amazon Prime Video.

3) Race (2008)

One movie that absolutely can’t miss this list is the action thriller race which also stars Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor and Bipasha Basu. Akshaye is the film’s main antagonist, an alcoholic plotting to kill his half-brother for his wealth. This was a huge commercial hit with songs that still haven’t dated. I still remember being so starstruck watching this movie on the big screen, and I must’ve been 8-9 years old. You can watch this on MX Player.

4) Mom (2017)

Akshaye’s portrayal of Matthew, a CBI officer in this thriller, was an absolute hit and critically acclaimed. It stars Sridevi as a vigilante who plots to avenge the rape of her daughter. It’s a gripping thriller and also Sridevi’s last-shot film. This movie was also the biggest hit of Khanna’s career and a great commercial success. You must watch it if you have a knack for thrillers. This is one of my favourite Bollywood thrillers to date. You can watch this on Netflix.

5) Section 375 (2019)

The plot of this movie revolves around the #Metoo movement when a female member of the film crew accuses a prominent Bollywood director of rape at his residence. It’s a very gripping thriller with Akshaye Khanna as a convincing lawyer. One of his best works. If you haven’t watched it, give it a go. You can watch this on Amazon Prime.
