“We have to be visible we should not be ashamed of who we are “
Marsha P. Johnson
Gender-related issues become very vital issues that need social awareness and empathy. Gender is a complex phenomenon people are looking towards this with pre mindset it is a very terrific concept for society. We as a human and citizens of our beloved country India have some rights based on equality though so many people are suffering discernment, we also have so many inspirational leaders who raised tier volume again the inequality.
Gandhi ji has our national father who brought back our freedom from Britishers. Mohammed Sahib who fought for the humanistic approach of barbarian Arabs for girl’s rights and female security and many other pathfinders as Ravindra Nath Tagore and most remembered baba sahib due to whom Harizan has been brought back with dignity.
Discrimination is faced by several people for their intersectional identity, here. My discussion regarding LGBTQ is going to be covering some very common but essential facts that can help us to grab this topic in a very easy way so we can relate with this community.
We must accept that six genders exist on this beautiful planet as per science and other religious sculpture. We are doing injustice to the remaining four genders and giving weightage to only males and females. This discrimination must come to an end as we fight for our rights.
If we look at all the religious texts, we can understand these genders were part of our ancient history and were not forced to be dancers or beggars as we can see nowadays. I can also share a very beautiful name that transgender folks got in Islam they called Khawaja Sara in Islam. Here we need to be a little more educated about our gender-related issues. Here I am taking Six Categories of Human Gender from Ancient Jewish Sources Are:
• Zachar means male
• Nekevah means female
• Androgynous: A person who has both “male” and “female” sexual features
• Tumtum: A person whose sexual features are unclassified or obscured
• Aylonit: A person who is identified as “female” at birth but grows “male” appearances
• Saris: A person identified as “male” at birth but develops “female” characteristics as puberty or lacks a penis.
First of all, we need to understand that the almighty created these genders we have no right to rejection to all these creatures. Some people are changing their gender with bad intentions or look different from others or want to change their gender so this is a sin but if someone is born with a different gender they must be treated well as female and male traits.
Due to their sexual life, there is a blurred concept of :
With whom they will marry?
How do they give birth to the child?
We have negative thoughts about their identity. Getting married and having a child can be a dream for certain people but it is not mandatory that if somebody is not getting married or having kids will not be part of this society. Here schools can play a vital role as I watched several videos where classmates and teachers are involved in down their self-esteem by mocking them.
School curricula must be designed in a way that creates equality and empathy for all the members of society. We can specific chapters in moral education about all the genders and LGBTQ section of society so children will learn to accept all the facts and will be able to respect each person around them without any biases.
Training for teachers is also a very important trendsetter they can cultivate moral values in the kids and respect for the identity of all the kids around them. These two areas demand more improvement to structure the society where discrimination will not take place and every individual breath fearlessly.
We need to understand that we need to cultivate that thought process in our kids since their childhood that all the genders demand same amount of love care and concern, they need to be treated normally they need not want special kind attention just give them space in your life with equally.
Social acceptance creates confidence and self-love in them so they can move on in various fields with dignity. We need to create awareness through training and conference in offices and university towards the basic right which is living with dignity for all genders and LGBTQ, so they can get better opportunities to learn and grow. Family can also provide an environment for the holistic development of their child.
Here I would like to share my own family experience with the transgender community.
Transgender people are always a matter of respect in our sweet home. I still remember when they come into my society after the birth of a newborn baby. My mom always offered respect to them and always served them rooh afza they said aapa to my mom and my mom said khala or aapa as their age and respect. I am grateful to my family and surrounding where they got respect but as I have grown up and got expose of the outer world which is filled with multiple faces of the society some very kind some are cruel as a monster.
I do my upbringing in a holistic environment where every person needed a respectful and friendly environment without any discrimination of gender, religion, and cast. Such individuals need compassion and kindness. I met with them many times in my life and think they also need respect why to choose the same career many questions raised in my mind:
Why they cannot be doctors, teachers, or engineers? But I am happy to see the change in their world here I would like to take the name of Aishwarya Rituparna Pradhan first openly, transgender civil servant. Now I can say proudly they can be doctors, engineers, and any profession.
There are multiple faces which are showing the path of success to us, so-called male and female I am getting inspiration from them we are weak they are not. People are letting them down and they are rising and facing all the challenges. I am dreaming a world where all of us can work in a holistic environment.
