Is It Okay To Overthink?

Sometimes I do think that is why overthinking is overrated. We are humans, we do have emotions and feelings. Isn’t it obvious to feel as if we are designed to do so? If we are not made for thinking or feeling, then why would we have it?

Do you understand this basic concept? I often heard the voices saying, “Stop overthinking, it is not good, it will affect your health,” blah blah blah. Yet, I deeply believe that we think, we all do so. If you are not thinking or feeling that means you have become a human robot. It is okay to think. You have a mind, vision, perception and feelings. You are allowed to feel anything or think anything, what matters is your action over those emotions. Sometimes, you do react over them. Sometimes, you don’t.

There is one very invisible line amid this, between your thoughts and actions. One should control this, one should know the boundaries, realise the consequences of everything one does, understand that your actions may spoil many people’s lives, and most importantly, know what are the possible results of your actions and how they are going to disturb one life or blossom it.

Everything is based on thoughts, so we do think. How much time we are going to give to it, is the person’s time to decide. So, there is no measurement to evaluate, how should a person think, it’s up to the individual whatever they are feeling and thinking, about how much time it is going to take to overcome it.

Sometimes, we make decisions and can’t think or to decide, then we realise the power of overthinking. A certain time is needed by a person, to choose whatever he/she desires to do so. Few people take much more time than normal and a few people take quick decisions. It is all based on their upbringing and the previous time of their decisions. If their decisions are bad, then they suffer, so few people stop making decisions and then they follow whatever other says to them to do, they lose confidence in them.

Thus, take your time to think, but make your own decisions. If it took you to the worst, learn and move on, but keep the graph upwards which should show that you have decision power, you think, feel, realise and learn from your mistakes. These are the part of this life. Everyone should do the same thing, and learning from your mistakes is important. Learning from your mistakes is the most important thing to do, otherwise, everything will go in vain.

So, do whatever you think is good for you, and follow your guts, because sometimes your heart will make you do emotional things which you will regret later Do logical and conceptual things because random things will hurt you in the end. Think, decide, follow and learn, that’s how you can live your life without overthinking.

If needed, you can always ask for help from your family (who will never wish harm to you), or your extremely close friends, if you don’t have any, go to the therapist and discuss it with them. However, decide for yourself, don’t let others decide for you.
