My Solo Bike Ride To Ladakh Was A Dreamy Experience

It all started back in 2017 when BRO( Border Road Organization) announced that they had built the highest Motorable Road in the world surpassing the Highest Motorable Road Uturunchu in Potosi  Bolivia (A South American Country). At that particular point in time, I determined that I would definitely get into the list of people who have conquered this mighty Umling La thereafter things have been going uncertain like COVID-19 came and 2 years passed consecutively then I got engaged in several other things needed indeed like career studies and all.

In May 2023 I decided to make a plan to take at least a step towards this task but unfortunately, things didn’t work out at that time however I had made up my mind that I have to go there in this exact year. All the time when I used to calculate the budget for this trip that used to make me sad of course because it’s not a piece of cake to have.

In August 2023 I had little savings and I had the plan to go to Mumbai then all of sudden I just checked the prices of flight from Delhi to Leh (Round Trip) and I was literally surprised with price fluctuations then I immediately canceled all my bookings of Mumbai and made reservations and flight ticket to Leh and most importantly I did not discuss this to anyone not a single person knew that I’m going to Ladakh for Umling la then eventually I went to Delhi took flight and landed all the way in Leh the whole experience was like dreaming in a day.

In Leh, I stayed in a youth hostel which was another of my first and best-ever experiences to date. I made new friends and socialized with different courses of people who were hanging around the world. People were also amazed that I was doing this alone without any support or person.

This was a little bit risky but they appreciated it as well. I rented an RE Himalayan and started my journey from Leh to Hanle about 260km and I enjoyed the roads fullest then I reached Hanle stayed there at night and witnessed the Milky Way with my naked eyes I couldn’t able to think that is it real.

But anyhow Next day early in the morning I took my bike and started the journey to the mighty Umling La that day I had to drive my bike for almost 440km in a single day from Hanle to UMLING (90km) Umling La to Chisumle then Hanle( 90km) then back Hanle to Leh (260km). The moment I saw the first view of Umling La I couldn’t resist tears in my eyes. This was the moment for which I’ve been waiting for since last 6 years and i became one of the youngest solo biker to reach the Umling La then I stayed there for almost 3-4 minutes because the oxygen level was very low over there at 19300 feet which is even higher than the base camp of Mount Everest.

I drove back to Leh and meanwhile, I encountered two beautiful people from Bangladesh who came to India just for Umling specifically. I enjoyed the ride from Chisumle to Hanle via Photila with them and came back to Leh The next day I took a flight from Leh to Delhi and the journey ended on a very sweet note and memory. I always say to people that stepping out of your comfort zone is mandatory for your life because the only things that a person carries with them are memories (good or bad) so make memories.
