On an average, a menstruator uses 8 sanitary napkins per cycle. This roughly amounts to 1 million disposed pads per day, and 12 billion a year - in India alone. Most of this waste is dumped into landfills and open grounds where it takes 600-800 years to decompose. Which essentially means that every single pad ever disposed of this way is still rotting away somewhere. And this waste has horrific consquences - from poisoning land and water, to drastically affecting plant, animal and human health.

I'm a law student, blogger and activist. Though passionate about various dimensions of social justice, my work mainly focusses around gender and sexuality. I've worked with women's rights organisations like She Says and Breakthrough India and founded the advocacy group Femme Epiphany. My work has been featured by GirlUp India, The Quint, US based mediums Brown Girl Magazine and Women For One.
I'm currently working on an MHM campaign called 'Bleed Free'. It aims at collectivising and amplifying voices to end menstrual stigma.
