Caste-based discrimination is prevalent across all socio-economic groups in both rural and urban India. Several policies, like the Post-Matric Scholarship have been put in place to ensure better access to higher education for Dalit and Adivasi youth. However, poor implementation and discrimination on various levels mean that millions are denied their right to education. Similarly, despite being illegal for over 30 years, manual scavenging continues to exist as a caste-based occupation. There is an urgent need for a policy intervention and demand change.
Join Youth Ki Awaaz in challenging caste-based discrimination in educational institutions and manual scavenging by highlighting voices from the community and demanding swift policy action that ensure effective implementation of existing frameworks.
