What is the Digital Masala Challenge?

We are experiencing a tumultuous period of global divisiveness today, which is driving violent extremism and hate. The rampant spread of misinformation has also made it easier for violent extremists to dehumanise and disconnect people from one another. Sponsored by Facebook and organised by Youth Ki Awaaz, the hackathon aims to counter just this and do it as effectively as it can.

The challenge: Come up with a tech or non-tech solution to counter violent extremism online. The winning team gets publicity, ad credits and $5000 to support their idea.

Terrorist organisations are using social media to recruit teens, and spread hate. Participate in the Digital #MasalaChallenge by Facebook and Youth Ki Awaaz, and come up with a solution to counter violent extremism online. Winners get publicity and $5000 to support their idea! Watch a glimpse of the first challenge and apply to participate in the next one at IIT Kanpur —> http://yka.be/RegisterDMCKanpur
