Ghoramara Island is one of the 54 islands in the Sundarbans Delta complex of the Bay of Bengal. Once spread across 8.51 sq km, the island today has reduced to 4.45 sq km.
Over the last three decades, Ghoramara has lost 75% of its landmass due to climate change. And it continues to recede, forcing islanders to seek shelter further inland. Many of them have already migrated to the nearby Sagar island. This is their story.
