In Kolkata, West Bengal, there is a private institution called St. Xavier's College. The college has received both UGC approval and NAAC accreditation with a grade of "A++."
Scottish Church College, Kolkata is the oldest running Christian liberal arts & science college of India situated in West Bengal and has been functioning since year 1830.
The UGC granted the University of Calcutta the designations of "University with potential for excellence" and "Centre with potential for excellence in Particular Area."
