Due to the notoriety of militancy in Kashmir, people think the same exists in Jammu. But, in fact, it is quite safe. There's nearly no such problem in the Jammu division.

The Geography: Currently, Jammu consists of 10 districts: Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi and Udhampur. These regions have a similar appearance to the valley (hills and snow), but their own charm.

Ethnic Groups: There's a multitude of cultures and ethnic groups, the main being the Dogras who make up 44% of Jammu. Others include Pothwaris, Sarazis, Bhaderwahis, Paddaris and Pogalis, Gujjars and Bakarwals, Gaddis and Kashmiri Pandits as well as Muslims.

Cultural Attractions: You can visit Akhnoor fort, temples like Vaishno Devi and Raghunath ji, and the Jamia Masjid of Bhaderwah. Also, you can explore the vast grasslands, mountain ranges and scenic beauty of Jammu's villages.

Most young people are adept in Hindi, and so, you don't have to worry about the language problem. In rural areas, the main issue tends to be electricity so expect power cuts every now and then, and be adequately prepared for the same.

Jammu has a moderate climate and can be visited in most part of the year. Cooler months starting from September to April can be considered ideal for visiting. So, what are you waiting for?
