Organ Donation: A Revival of Life

By Anavil Jaiswal:

Even the oldest of the civilizations have witnessed a trait of the human behaviour to endeavour for the prolific objects in life, ranging from the ancient earthenware to the modern contraptions. Man tries to distance himself from anything which becomes worthless for him and gradually discards it. It is better if we reuse the same assets, especially non-renewable ones, ameliorating their scarcity, helping to make this world a better place to survive in. The deed turns nobler when one assists the deprived with his invigorating body organs, almost transmogrifying the recipient’s life. Organ donation is a splendid legacy we can leave behind.

One of the most enlivening organs is the eye, which enables the visually impaired to experience the numerous aspects of life more intelligibly. The evoked sentiments and the tremendous joy are intricate enough to be inexplicable. Instead of getting seared or mingling with the dust after death, our eyes can breathe life into others and would resume espying the prodigies of the resplendent world. It is like reviving a cadaverous body.

The heart is an organ which is often exchanged by the lovers; even shown stolen in the movies, especially by the female fraternity. Perhaps, the most significant and the most connected organ of our body, if transplanted well in time can continue throbbing, loving and supporting the coveted human life. Similarly, our lungs, liver, skin, stem cells, pancreas, etc. can be brought in use by others, providing a profound meaning to their lives as well as to humanity. The organs and the sundry tissues can also be donated to be of immense assistance in the medical research as anatomical dissection gives the human mind an opportunity to compare the dead with the living, things severed with things intact, things destroyed with things evolving, and opens up the profoundness of nature to us more than any other attempt or consideration. This will aid the revelation of the intricacies and the cure of the numerous diseases the mankind is suffering with.

A good number of patients wait for the availability of the transplantable organs worldwide. It is unfortunate that many people die due to the dearth of the same. Though affirmed by most of them in the world, this noble deed is beyond religion. China has one of the largest organ transplant programmes globally, which acts as an inspiration. So, let us step ahead, decide positively, leaving behind a lasting effect on others’ lives, feeling proud for the same, deeply marking on the sands of time. For, a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down.
