Structural Reforms In Governance Can Help India Achieve Its Full Potential

India, despite being a thriving democracy and a developing nation, still lacks planned cities, and basic facilities like electricity, water drainage, cleanliness and hygiene, proper education, health facilities, public transportation etc.

The reason for all these shortcomings is that there are not enough revenues and corruption at various levels has deprived citizens of the benefits bestowed by the government.

Every day we hear about various scams and all the figures are in billions of dollars, while millions in our country sleep without food or proper shelter. The irony is that already privileged earn billions while the deserving and qualified are trapped in EMIs and taxes.

This needs to be stopped!

But the main problem is, there are no competent people to lead us, represent us or govern us. In India, “Gali ka Gundas” (goons) become karyakartas (party workers), and then go on to become local leaders, who eventually contest elections!

These people have been convicted in criminal cases; they run businesses and hoard black money and have set up fully effective networks of corruption. We also have well-educated diplomats and bureaucrats but they, too, seem to have failed us, whatever may be the reasons. All of these people are already worth crores but still go on filling their coffers with a hefty salary and various concessions from taxpayers’ money.

What can we expect from such lobbies that own both the law of the land and the government?

Let us look at a few possible solutions:

  1. We and not the political parties should decide candidates who will represent us.
  2. If NOTA is the second largest majority in any election, then all the candidates should be banned from contesting any election for at least two terms.
  3. For candidates to contest in elections, they should be required to pass civil service exams.
  4. Similarly, there should be service commission exams for contesting for MP or MLA respectively; we don’t want them to be toppers, but at least they should know the area which they are representing properly.
  5. All the politicians who are worth more than 20 million or higher should work for 1 INR salary compulsory, and no personal allowances should be given to them.
  6. Every year, all the politicians and bureaucrats, judges and lawyers should take a psychometric test or behavioural test which can keep in check their credibility and intent for the development and progress of the nation (Artificial Intelligence should be used for this to ensure unbiased results) and their services should be continued or stopped, according to the results.
  7. Drones and CCTVs can be used to ensure proper electricity, tree plantation, water drainage, cleanliness and hygiene, proper education, health facilities, public transportation, etc. This should be implemented by using automatic AI-based system, and concerned authorities should be held responsible and if the quality cannot be maintained over a long time, tax for those services should be waived.
  8. Every city should follow the minimum township planning criteria to be able to charge citizen taxes.

This is the definition of Ramrajya or Asgard for me! Although all the points seem impossible, the first four points are immediately required. Only then can we achieve our full potential and become the superpower which Sir A.P.J Abdul Kalam dreamt of, and set an ideal example for the world!

Now that you have read about the solution, I have created a petition addressed to the concerned authorities for the same. Please sign this petition.  Share and support if you agree.
