I visited the Moscow Zoo with my friend, Evgeny, today. It was founded in 1864 by professor-biologists, K.F. Rulje, S.A. Usov, and A.P. Bogdanov, of Moscow State University. The Moscow zoo has over 7500 animals representing about 1000 species and covers an area of about21.5 hectares (53 acres).
This visit brought back many memories of my childhood. Entry to most of the zoo area for students is free. The normal tickets cost 300 rubles. If you are in Moscow, the Moscow zoo is a must.
