Poem: Ma

It was such a random wish of yours,

That with a cake cutting ceremony,

Like others, we celebrate your day,

In the month we all knew wasn’t yours.

I shivered from within with a deep fear,

To think what was in store in the future near,

Yet trying the hardest to overcome my fright,

Did as was commanded by you from heart.

Never did I know my fears would come so true,

And I would lose those blossoming smiles of yours,

In just one year that shall further pass through.

It is now that I realise your demand so strange,

Perhaps you knew you had less time in ranges

The first-ever celebration smile we shared,

On the birthday that wasn’t your real day,

Was indeed the last that we ever could enjoy,

But then so permanent to stay with us too hard,

Even after you left all  of us farthest behind,

To begin your journey to the heavenly abode.

Stay in peace Ma. I miss and shed tears but the gleam of your smile still brightens up my life.

I never could understand I loved you.
