Social media has evolved recently into a kind of platform inviting lots of discussions and justices. Cases of any profile- higher, complex, simple, complicated, or even an autopsy report- are all met with justice via social media. I mean taking into this consideration, the judicial set up or the foreign ministry panel is all a futile setup. In my opinion, social media should handle cases relating to personality deaths, policies, minorities problems, lives of characters of B-town, and all hi-fi cases.
What happened in Bengaluru is a clear indication of a Facebook post turning into violence. And why not? I mean look at our set up, government ideologies, the lame statements of people holding respected designation. The violence is a result of the rapid spread of misinformation and how comments on social media are molded and presented. A nephew of a legislature, no doubt he might be studying in a hi-fi school, would be having access to all sorts of technologies that have no control in expressing himself.
What the crowd did, is no doubt wrong, but what we must see is that how is this religious sentiment being provoked with the perfect assimilation of strategies. The legislative family was absent, and the crowd burst through only to parade violent measures on innocents who were unaware of the reason. Not only this, but there have also been several similar incidents in the past under the governance of Smt. Indira Gandhi to the management of Shri. Narendra Modi.
The history is full of these incidents, where the sentence is molded and presented in a way to arouse violence. Look at the way social media frames news to present a kind of thing that attracts one’s attention. Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide- but what was supposed to be just a story turned into a social media rife with his life, relationships, lifestyle, bank balance, and what not.
What Kind Of Lives Are We Living In?
Not all social media news is to be reacted to; some are foolish, let them be. Once you stop being lulled into the invitations scumming to violence, the strategies of people like these will go in vain. And what do we gain from this abuse? Broken legs, or fractured hands you are forgotten, and the legislature comes in fame. Don’t get trapped in this media which is propagated to explore rage.
There was a beautiful gesture in this violence, the chain of Muslim youth around a temple. Be a change rather than being the same as people before. An example set up like this is all that is needed.
