In my objective opinion, it is the food that does all the bonding connecting the tongue with taste by associating the bride and groom closer to each other.
In the Indian context, marriages are aimed at acquainting us with the codes, customs, conduct and culture of different and diverse communities thus assisting in reconciliation if ever there exists a conflict of interest, ideas and opinions. Fundamentally, love marriages offer us with the best illustrations of this face and fact as for the mutually arranged alliance of arranged marriages. Closer scrutiny of the matchmaking in urban spaces will make us better appreciate and acknowledge this fact.
Apart from economic safety and security, it is the mental orientation and outlook of both the bride and groom mattering the most. It actively plays its part in seeking matrimonial prospects as for the subjectivity of the social caption and capture. It mutually benefits each other’s choices and selections as the trend of marriages have taken a sharp turn with a rise in mobility, educational qualifications, employment opportunities, better standard of survival and subsistence.
This is indicative of the preferences and priorities made during the process enhancing the levels of familiarisation and understanding of each other. Marriages are no more about searching a soul mate or a life partner but all about locating an equal half sharing the joy of complimenting one another’s place of pride, prosperity, happiness and harmony. It is in this light that the concept of big fat Indian marriages have transformed for a better least dependent on the stamp of the traditional sense of ethics and morality. They are more about being reasoned, rational and humane.
