Word From A Woman To Woman- It’s Time We Stop Putting Each Other Down!

Dear Women,

I feel so much pride when I say I am a woman. And why shouldn’t I? We have come a long way in fighting patriarchy and gender biases. There is a fight that every woman must have fought to be who she really is and I respect you for who you are.

However, there is one thing that I hate about some women and that is not standing up for a woman when they should.

Together we can make this world a better place for other women. Let’s begin now. Representational image.

I have seen women commenting on the way other women look, dress, and behave. I have seen women who laugh when a boy say something bad about other women. I have seen women downgrading other women for so many things. I have seen women who are jealous of the achievements of other women. In many Indian families, it’s women who fight with other women in the family. And the worst of all I have seen women not saying anything when a man misbehaves with a woman in front of their eyes.

And trust me, it is so disheartening to see the hatred in some women against other women. It bothers and irks me to hear such things.

Why do we do that? Why don’t we stand up for our sisters? Why do we belittle a woman for her looks and beauty?

It’s high time we stand up for our sisters and fight patriarchy together. Unless and until we do that, there will not be any Woman’s Day in reality.

Let’s promise each other that we will not hear any sexist comment or remark from other men about any woman (even if she is unknown to you). We will not put other women down on the basis of their looks and clothing choices. We will appreciate and encourage other women to achieve success in their lives. We will not judge other women for their marriage, relationships, sexuality, career, choice of being a mother or not, and for other things.

Together we can make this world a better place for other women. Let’s begin now. Happy Women’s Day to every woman out there.
