Poem: The Campaigning Whims Of The Assam Elections, 2021

Oh, the big words,
Are sprouted again,
Buds of hazy prophecy,
Are plotted again,

Vows are knitted like before,
On the glasses of despair,

Where impersonation is the mantra,
To rule the hearts of Janata,
The ordinary men are picked,
So, the old chapters are on repeat,

With peanuts, their pockets are filled,
To shout the tailored slogans,

Befooling the rest of men,
Marching ahead in search of meat,
The youths and women,
To joining the trail,

Unaware of the political gimmicks,
Wonder how far they would sail!

Tiny sack of grains sent as souvenirs,
No matter how coarse and poor,
The innocent to eat with no sore,
With the rising unemployment plague,

The creeping food prices another mystery,
Always unsolved with flocking misery,

But then comes the big words in the play,
Twisted and toasted like another replay,
With pomp and show, the campaigns flutter,
For the handful of votes makes them bother,

The agonies of the impoverished come and go,
Like the seasonal floods make us bow,

This is the new normal in the Covid world,
Deferred of solutions to refix the insane whirls,
Big-big words now only seem to matter,
For actions no more speak louder,

A sane system is all we need,
Hope we choose the right leader to rule the misdeeds!
