MediBuddy Launches Campaign On India’s Most Neglected Healthcare Issue, Lifestyle Disorder

This World Health Day (April 6), MediBuddy, India’s largest digital healthcare platform, launched its initiative #BacchonSeSeekho to unlearn everything we have been taught as adults and learn afresh from the kids around us. As adults, individuals have adapted to the changing environment, however, this adaption has also taken a toll on one’s health.

Covid-19 has undoubtedly been one of the most complex viruses to have ever challenged humanity. The data from online consultations on MediBuddy’s app indicates an alarming number of one in every five young adults to be dealing with lifestyle disorders — both physical and mental. One in every 10 women in India suffer from Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).  Data shows that since the onset of Covid-19, MediBuddy has recorded a 45% growth in consultations for weight managemen0,t out of which 21% are obesity related. The platform has also noted a significant surge with queries related to diabetes and hypertension.

The digital campaign draws parallels and highlights the stark differences in lifestyle habits of children and those of adults. The campaign also accentuates the fact that us adults have adopted lifestyle measures that obstruct our wellness. The aim of the campaign revolves around encouraging adults to unlearn these unhealthy routines and to embrace healthy practices.

Satish Kannan, Co-founder and CEO, MediBuddy

Commenting on the idea that stands as the foundation behind the initiative, Satish Kannan, Co-founder and CEO of MediBuddy said, “As a brand dedicated to healthcare, we believe that there is so much more we could do to further the progress of physical and mental healthcare in the country. Lifestyle Disorder is a serious health problem that should be given paramount importance. Through our data, we want to make people aware of the challenges it can pose and support individuals as they inculcate a healthier lifestyle.”

Commenting on the same, Dr Gowri Kulkarni, Heads of Medical Operations, MediBuddy, commented,

“While there has been great progress in the treatment of individual diseases, chronic diseases continue to increase. There are ever-multiplying numbers of individuals whose well-being is compromised due to lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease. A very important contributing factor for these diseases is our faulty lifestyle including poor dietary habits, sedentary lifestyle, inadequate sleep and chronic stressors. As kids, we learn all the good things — to eat right, to sleep on time, to go out and play, but when we grow up, our choices change owing to the fast-paced modern life. The hustle and bustle we are constantly surrounded with have been a force in altering our lifestyle habits. In managing work, family and personal life, health takes a backseat.”

A sedentary lifestyle with unhealthy diets, irregular sleep patterns and rising stress levels have resulted in many health issues amongst adults. MediBuddy has launched its thought-provoking concept #BacchonSeSeekho to leave its audience in retrospect. As kids, we learnt all the healthy habits. Is it time to unlearn and go back to what we knew as kids?

A a brand, MediBuddy has been prioritising health and wellness with providing quality healthcare solutions to people that they can avail 24×7 across the country from the comfort of their homes. By using the digital platform, one can book doctor consultations, lab tests, medicine delivery and more.
