Controlling Frustration: Mental Health In The Pandemic

To conquer frustration, one must remain intensely focused on the outcome, not the obstacles“. This quote was said by T.F Hodge, keeping this in mind, don’t you think that half the time we experience this emotion because of what we cannot control? Can we instead focus on what we have?

Many are feeling sadness and frustration due to circumstances out of their control.

Of course, during these times, frustration is only natural but it has been way too long so we can choose a different reaction to the situation. As per definition, frustration is the feeling of being upset or annoyed as a result of being unable to change or achieve something. It can be in this context frustrating for us to study harder because we can’t due to the current disturbing scenario.

Covid is not in our control but what is in our control is the collective task to end it and that can only happen if people follow the covid precautions and get vaccinated when their turn comes. Perhaps, let me point out that it won’t take a single person to end it, no right? Although staying at home can be pretty frustrating at times, can’t we just make merry with ourselves and our family?

These times won’t come back, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime scenario. Let’s just dance in our house, sing songs together, cook together, and learn new things. It was difficult to do so much in pre-covid times. Let’s embrace ourselves and make online plans with friends maybe once or twice a week to make ourselves sane. After all, it’s not possible to live in extreme isolation.

Staying in the moment makes you happier. We are always either in the past or anxious about the future and as a result, we do not realize the importance of what’s with us now. This leads to frustration and mere emptiness. if you really do want to meet a friend, meet just one or two friends who don’t really venture outdoors because life has to move on, we can’t remain stagnant like this.

Frustration can lead to disappointment, low feelings, no motivation to do anything, and it’ll gradually lead to deterioration of your own mental health. The best we can do is stay calm, be happy, engage in gratitude, hopefulness, optimism, and cooperate with the government. Trust me, it’s the best feeling. Say no to frustration and a big yes to contentedness and mindfulness.

Last but not the least, remind yourself that nothing is permanent in life, it’s just temporary, be patient in the meanwhile, maybe work on your personal growth? Remember, we’re all in this together and we will overcome this obstacle! Stay Home! Stay Safe!
