Quick Bytes: Pandemic & Deteriorating Mental Health

Are you depressed? Many people in India will say yes and many others will say no even if they want to say yes.

As the pandemic started, we all started staying in our homes, and the people who were covid positive had to stay all alone so it was the need of the hour. Initially, people were enjoying these surprise holidays but then the collapsing economy and rising death rate started affecting people’s mental health very badly.

The pandemic forced everyone to stay inside and for COVID-positive patients to quarantine.

This was even worse for the quarantined people as in many places they were treated poorly by their neighbors. I agree that when a person is quarantined, you have to maintain distance from the person. But people forgot that they had to stay away from the person physically and not emotionally.

People started spreading hatred when providing mental and emotional support was the need of the hour. So what can we do now?

The best thing that we can do now is that we can spread love and not hate. If a person can learn to hate he can also be taught to love. Everybody has imperfections but now is the time to ignore them and focus on the good. No person is completely good or bad. Even a person who appears unfriendly and arrogant may have some very good qualities.

So let’s spread love and we can make this world a better place to live.
