‘Tragic Loss’: Veteran Actor Dilip Kumar Bids Adieu

It’s sad news for all Hindi movie lovers today. We have lost one of the best actors in the Hindi film industry, Dilip Kumar. Yes, ANI took to their social media account and tweeted the news. ANI tweeted that Dr Jalil Parkar of Mumbai’s PD Hinduja Hospital has revealed the news of the veteran actor’s death.

“Veteran actor and Legend Dilip Kumar has passed away at the age of 98, says Dr Jalil Parkar, a pulmonologist treating the actor at PD Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai,” the tweet read.

The legendary actor Mohammed Yusuf Khan popularly known by his screen name Dilip Kumar has worked in the industry for nearly 5 decades and everyone enjoyed some great movies. He was taken to hospital two days ago after complaining of shortness of breath.

It was previously reported that on June 6, the actor was diagnosed with bilateral pleural effusion. Later he underwent surgery for himself and was discharged on June 11.

Just on Monday night, bollywood actress Saira Banu, wife of veteran actor and former Hindi film actress, asked everyone to keep Dilip Kumar in their prayers. She also tweeted that his health has improved. Indeed, this is a tragic loss for the entertainment industry and his family.

Last year, Saira Banu said she was not doing well given the state of the pandemic in the country. She said, “He is not feeling well. He is weak. Sometimes he enters the hall and goes back to his room. His immunity is low. Pray for his safety. We are thankful to God for every day.”

Known as the ‘King of Tragedy’ in Bollywood, Kumar was known as an actor of style that was not limited to musical genres. In a career spanning more than five decades, the legend has been prolific in comedy, drama, romance, and more.

Dilip Kumar has portrayed some notable personalities on the silver screens. Some of his notable works include Devdas (1955), Naya Daur (1957), Mughal-e-Azam (1960), Ganga Jamuna (1961), Kranti (1981), and Karma (1986), to name a few. His last step in the cinema was Castle in 1998.
