Poem: “How Do I See What You See In Me?”

A woman, seated at a desk, is lost in thought as she is writes something on a paper.

You see me and see conviction.

You see me and see fortitude.

But muse for a minute,

Do you really see me?

You see me and see flamboyance.

You see me and see gaiety.

But pray, will you ponder,

Do you really see me?

You see me and say,

You are our bulwark!

You are our Persephone.

You are our go-to girl,

You are home!

Even so, let me let you in on the unknown.

Do you wonder, what I see when I see me?

Diffidence and pusillanimity.

Unobtrusive, yet a blemish on humanity,

Not a Persephone, but a Tyche.

As I well up with disquietude,

As I adjust my veneer,

I stew and I fixate.

How do I see what you see in me?
