Six Steps To Help You Prepare For CLAT 2022

Are you a CLAT aspirant preparing for CLAT 2022?

Here is a step-by-step guide to help you prepare well for CLAT or any other competitive exam for that matter, as the essence of preparation is not in the steps but in better understanding the syllabus. Here are six steps to ensure that you remain efficient and consistent with your study plan.

Step 1: Understand the syllabus properly

The first step to prepare for any exam preparation, including CLAT’s, is to go through the entire syllabus carefully and understand it thoroughly. You have to understand how much you have to study for good preparation, without wasting too much time on related topics that are not specifically covered in the syllabus.

Step 2: Check previous year question papers

The second step to understand your syllabus properly is to evaluate previous years’ question papers and assess the type of questions asked for each topic. It will help you if you try to get an idea about the expected questions, paper pattern, attempt order and weightage given to the different subjects in the paper.

Step 3: Consult your teachers or friends for textbooks and course materials

The next step is to collect resources for your studies. You may need the help of your tutors or fellow CLAT aspirant friends to know which books to read. Before spending money on anything expensive, talk to your friends about the options that are available in the market. If you are entirely dependent on self-study, then you also need to look for online resources such as test papers, YouTube lectures for difficult topics, doubt solving forums etc.

Step 4: Join CLAT coaching if required

It is suggested that you start with self-study, and later, if you find it difficult to understand, plan or make notes, only then join a coaching class. Nowadays, there are a lot of  CLAT online coaching centres such as Law Prep Tutorials that are available for those who want help at home for their online CLAT preparation. CLAT online coaching has proved to be more convenient for people from smaller towns, where physical coaching centres are not readily available.

Step 5: Build a habit of self-study

Ideally, it is always important to build a habit of self-study regardless of which coaching centre you are taking help from, whether online or offline. Even after going to coaching for five hours a day, if you don’t do two hours of self-study, you will end up suffering in your retention power. In addition, self-study acts as a daily revision for the topics you have already covered at your coaching. More revision means stronger retention and clearer concepts.

Step 6: Take mock tests

This is the most important step to prepare for any competitive exam including CLAT. However, many students skip it or ignore it. Most of the students underestimate the importance of mock tests. Mock tests give you confidence and improve your exam-solving ability for that particular structure. It also helps you to understand your strong and weak points, which help you to prepare and perform better. Nowadays, there are a lot of convenient and time-saving CLAT online mock tests and CLAT test series available for the students.
