In many Eastern cultures, kids’ voice is ignored. Elders won’t admit it but it is a fact. They are forced since their childhood to do as their parents say. They are forced to grow up to become doctors, scientists and engineers even if they do not like these fields. Even if they want to do something different, they are not permitted to do so. And when these kids go out of their homes, they lack confidence and aren’t able to raise their voices.
Why Kids’ Voice is Suppressed By Parents
The voice of kids is suppressed because parents want them to do what they themselves couldn’t do. When parents see relatives’ kids becoming doctors, then they force their own kids to become doctors as well. They compare their kids with other kids and see the world as a race.
Why don’t they understand the needs and interests of their kids? Why do parents become so practical and put conditions on their love? Parents will only be happy with their kids if they get good grades and become successful doctors or scientists.
Why Kids’ Choice Is Not Given Priority
Kids are raised in such a way that they are unable to find a space to express themselves. They become followers of their parents’ instructions. And parents behave this way because their parents also treated them the same way back in the day. This ends up becoming a chain of authoritative parents.
The World Has Changed And So Has People’s Mindset
Kids make their own choices and don’t want the pressure. They want a modern life as they live in a modern world. They want to do something new instead of taking up traditional roles.
Should Parents Be Counselled?
Parents should be told how to deal with kids of the modern age as they have new ideas about life and the world. They want to live a tension-free life in which they can fulfil their dreams. They demand freedom of expression and wish to live life like kids from the West. They should be given space and their voices should be heard.
How To Reduce The Communication Gap Between Parents And Kids
Kids should be given space to express true feelings. They should be given importance and should not sit with dirty people. Innocent kids should sit with innocent ones so that their innocence is not spoiled. They should not be given orders instead they should be treated with love and care.
