Quick Byte: “This Majoritarian Government Is Hell-Bent On Dividing Society.”

Indian politicians have been known for inciting violence throughout the country, in the name of religion (their ‘divide and rule’ policy), language (Hindi over other languages), culture, and society. The ruling party is no different. Ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government came to power, since 2014, it has taken several flawed decisions like demonetisation, Goods and Services Tax (GST), and constructing statues at such sky-rocketing costs, which could’ve been easily spent on other matters of concern.

Nowadays, they are disturbing the peace and harmony of the country by implementing acts like the National Register for Citizens (NRC), the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and the National Population Register (NPR). All of them have been passed by both the houses of the Indian Parliament, and have received the President’s assent.

This majoritarian government is hell-bent on dividing society. As a consequence, people are protesting, which might soon take the shape of a full-blown Civil War.

People elect politicians as their representatives so that they can quench the thirst of people, but it seems like they’re doing just the opposite. But, people are uniting against them and won’t let them succeed. For politicians, it seems to me that they believe in: “I like having a cigarette, but I dislike the smoke.” Our resistance is that smoke. And we must fight.
