Opinion: We Have Laid The Foundation Stone Of Ram Mandir And Unlaid The Stone Of Secularism

On August 5, 2020, PM Modi using the silver brick and laid the foundation stone of Ram Mandir. The most anticipated event that united the endless beliefs and faith of people across the country, but in reality, has given birth to the Hindu Chauvinist state and unlaid the gold brick, which had laid the foundation of secularism. When the Supreme Court acted on behalf of the Hindu majority, it took me by surprise —indeed, it was expected, but there was little hope that something good would come up for the whole country and it couldn’t.

It is a well-known fact that the BJP has grown from strength to strength because it identified with the term ‘Hindutva.’ When this party is abandoning all the religious minorities, then where is secularism? It’s disheartening that in the 21st century, we are still grappling with the issues that have nothing to do with the country’s development. If we see in Asia, China had started with us on the development journey, with even fewer resources than us, and has now reached far ahead.

It is a well-known fact that BJP has grown from strength to strength because it identified with the term ‘Hindutva.’

Under this chauvinism, India is heading towards a journey on which the repercussions would be so demolishing. This whole event has grabbed a great deal of attention and flak at the same time due to Modi’s daring step to lay the foundation stone amidst Covid-19. Is it a joke? Even when people are dying, not because they are not taking enough precautions against the coronavirus but because they don’t have access to these essential health facilities during the pandemic, Modi’s government did not bother about the urgent needs of people.

How peculiar it sounds that a country such as India, which owns Rs 3,000 crore statues, loads of temples in possession of millions of rupees, and now Ram Mandir that is being expected to cost several hundred crores, has not enough hospital beds for corona-infected patients, not enough corona testing kits.

Kyuki Modi hain to sab mumkin hai

Is this the India we wanted? Then why? Dare to think, people! Are we going to let them destroy the India that our forefathers have built with love and values, or are we choosing the revolution that India needs right now?
